Saying God Bless You When Somebody Sneezes:
When the great plague swept Europe., sufferers began sneezing violently which was a sign of death. The Pope therefore passed a law requiring people to bless the sneezer. At the same time, it was expected that anybody sneezing would cover their mouth with a cloth or their hand. This was obviously to stop the spreading of the disease, but many believed that it was to keep the soul intact. Sneezing ‘into the air’ would allow the soul to escape and death would be imminent. Up until this time, the opposite was true. Those who sneezed were congratulated, as it was believed that a violent sneeze would expel evil from their bodies.
It’s good luck to sneeze 3 times before breakfast.
If you want to sneeze and can’t, it is a sign some one loves you, and doesn’t dare to tell it. Boston, Mass.

If we sneezed during a conversation about sickness or death, we were supposed to pull on our left ear to ward off the evil eye.

The Sneeze Rhyme

Sneeze on Monday, sneeze for danger.
Sneeze on Tuesday, kiss a stranger.
Sneeze on Wednesday, receive a letter.
Sneeze on Thursday, something better.
Sneeze on Friday, sneeze for woe.
Sneeze on Saturday, a journey go.
Sneeze on Sunday your safety seek, for the Devil has you rest of the week.
If you drop a knitting-needle, you won’t be married during the present year.
If you break many needles in a garment, it will be worn at a wedding.
If you draw blood from a prick of the needle while making a garment, it is a sign you will be kissed the first time you wear it. Boston, Mass.
Should needles break while sewing on a new garment, it is a sign that the owner will be married before it is worn out. New York.
If you wear a piece of clothing while it’s being sewn, you need to chew on a piece of bread — otherwise, God will think you’re being sewn into your shroud and you will soon die.

The Irish legend says an old women was drowning. A king saved her and the woman cast a spell on a stone to reward the king. The stone is set in the wall of the Blarney Castle. A kiss of this stone brings the kisser the gift of persuasive talk. The kisser is then able to speak in a sweet and convincingly manner to get what ever he wants. Talking blarney is a saying that accompanies a person who can convince you of almost anything.

In Kyrgyzstan, people don’t talk about their plans which have not been realized yet because they think good luck will be lost. If you talk about your plans or hopes, you need to immediately spit over your left shoulder.
In the past, people believed two angels lived behind a person; a white angel lived behind the person’s right shoulder; a black angel was behind his left shoulder. People thought spitting would keep the black angel from getting angry, and then he would not destroy their plans.
