In Japan, if you put a piece of snake skin into your wallet, you are going to become rich or find money. Snakes are a symbol of money and wealth in Japan. Some people believe the snake is an animal of God, so they never kill snakes. People say if you kill a snake, you will lose your money.

People say if someone finds a white snake, he will be lucky in life. It’s an event of good omen; it is believed that white snakes carry good luck. Actually, some people put a picture of a white snake on the wall. Reference

Chinese are also known to regard snakes as good luck for business, which is allegedly why some Chinese keep snakes in their bodega.

Buckeye Nuts

In the eastern & southern United States Buckeyes were traditionally thought to be a sure preventive of rheumatism, arthritis, or headache. Identical beliefs were recorded in Germany and the Netherlands during the early 19th century, but there the preventive power was attributed to the buckeye’s European relative, the horse-chestnut. It is probable that European immigrants transferred the horse-chestnut’s magical ability to the buckeye when they settled in America. Missouri, lore holds that a buckeye increases the bearer’s sexual power. In the African-American tradition, a buckeye in the pocket is reputed to increase one’s supply of pocket money — and the buckeye forms the basis of a popular good luck charm for gamblers.

Over time, the “magical ability” of the buckeye became broadly interpreted as a general good luck charm often carried in pockets, purses or on key chains.

Whistling

Ukrainians believe that if you whistle indoors you will bring bad luck to that place.

A Russian superstition says you can’t whistle in the house or car, as they believe that you are whistling away your money.

Fingers and Hands

Fingers Crossed: By making the sign of the Christian faith with our fingers, evil spirits would be prevented from destroying our chances of good fortune.

Hands:

If the palm of your right hand is itchy, then it foretells that money is coming to you, but don’t scratch it as that stops the money from coming!
If it’s your left palm that is itchy, then scratch away, as that means that you’ll soon be paying out money.
If hands are crossed at the table while passing a dish, a wedding will follow. The top hand belongs to the person who will be married. Pennsylvania.

Shaking hands:

Ukrainian: It’s bad luck to shake hands over a doorway.
If four persons cross hands in shaking hands on taking leave, one will marry before the year is out. Prince Edward Island, Eastern Massachusetts, and New York.
